Vernham Dean to Tidcombe

This walk begins in Vernham Dean where there is parking in the Recreation Ground CP.  The route forms a figure of eight passing over rolling wooded downland with extensive distant views.  There are a couple of steady climbs, four stiles and one fairly steep decent which will require care and where a walking pole might be useful.  Lunch will be taken in the church yard at the remote hamlet of Tidcombe.  The return journey will cross more downland before passing through the hill fort at Knolls Hill en-route  to Vernham Dean.  In poor weather the downlands will offer little shelter, so good weather proof clothing and footwear is recommended.  Bring a packed lunch and advise the walk leader if you intend coming on this walk.
